Drama is so Draining – 2015-09-09

Drama is so draining…
Most of us have been on both sides of that coin: keeping it alive or trying to swim out of that riptide.

This is not to say that we shouldn’t be there for our friends in their troubles; to encourage, to love, to listen and to wrap our hearts around them. It is to say that passing through drama is a part of life, remaining in drama drains the life and joy out of our day. Survival mode – barely keeping your head above water – is exhausting.

I love it when we can share experiences. I am trying to find the right words to express the difference in sharing experiences and spewing drama all over. It feels to me like the difference between understanding each other, and inciting each other to take sides, like the difference between sharing your experience and manipulation. We can validate each other and their experiences without going to war.

One of my favorite quotes has always been this quote by Eleanor Roosevelt: “Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people.”

This quote is truly a goal rather than an everyday reality. The days it is a reality I find so refreshing and joyful. On the mountain by myself, it has been very peaceful. But I love guests, I love sharing thoughts, ideas and experiences. I had a few days this week when I had the opportunity to experience discussing ideas, to listen, to learn and OH! Was it awesome! I cannot fully express what a blessing it has been. My mind is still trying to catch up with it all… my heart is overflowing. smile emoticon

Be blessed today, my friends. We can CHOOSE not to get stuck in the drama, we can choose to experience joy.

Finally, brethren, farewell. Become complete. Be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you. II Corinthians 13:11
